The place to work in pathology

We are looking for top talent to join the UK’s leading and fastest growing pathology company – a scientific organisation with a clinical purpose.

Working in partnership with our service partners, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital and Bedford NHS Hospital Trusts, we aim to set the standard for the future of pathology.

The department of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, based at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital NHS trust is looking to recruit a band 5 or 6 HCPC registered scientist with a keen interest in haemostasis.

This post should appeal to you if you are self-motivated and keen to extend your knowledge of specialist haemostasis.

Applications will be considered from those who have completed the specialist portfolio in haematology, and the appointment will be to a band 6 level.

If you are not yet at that stage of your career, but have an interest in professional development via completion of the specialist portfolio, we would love to support your journey from band 5 entry level.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward thinking and growing service that is looking to invest in its staff, innovation and development.

Your development and learning:

You will have a suite of learning opportunities available through the Scientific Learning and Development Fund and the ViAcademy through which you can receive funding for advanced qualifications.

Through our Innovation Fund, you can apply for finance to get that new innovative scientific project off the ground, and participate with the wider scientific community through symposiums, conferences and other peer group meetings.

A little about the lab and us:

We are one of the largest haemostasis laboratories in the UK, and have an extensive repertoire of specialist tests, encompassing the diagnosis of bleeding disorders, thrombophilia and platelet function disorders. Although we are predominantly a fully / semi - automated lab we also run many manual assays which will help hone your practical skills. All our specialist tests require post analytical interpretation, and staff are supported by senior, experienced scientists to ensure the highest quality reports

The department has ISO15189 accreditation and is registered as an IBMS training laboratory, where CPD is supported and actively encouraged.

You will join a team of about 30 BMSs and MLAs working in haemostasis labs based at both St Thomas’ and Guys sites.

Our annual activity is approximately 360,000 front line coagulation tests and 86000 specialist assays. The department operates 24/7, but non- core hours and weekends are covered by a dedicated subset of staff.
