Haematology Manager – Paediatric Rapid Response Laboratory

AfC Band 8a / Permanent / Full Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the Paediatric Laboratory Medicine Laboratory team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH)

The hospital is a national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK. The hospital has approximately 50 paediatric specialties, the widest range of any hospital in the UK. Our laboratory teams play an essential role in the diagnosis and treatment of children with highly complex, rare or multiple conditions.

The laboratories and associated facilities are housed within a purpose-built facility offering a unique range of fully accredited (ISO15189) clinical laboratory investigations supporting GOSH as well as acting as a specialist referral centre for hospitals, clinics and clinicians across the world.

This is an advanced role where the post holder will lead and be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the Haematology and Coagulation services in the 24/7 Paediatric Rapid Response Laboratory (PRRL)

The post holder will work closely with Chemical Pathology manager in the PRRL and the Blood Transfusion Manager to provide a forward thinking, patient focused laboratory service. The post holder will work with the senior Laboratory Management team in the areas of service development, continuity, resilience, staff and budgetary management, liaison with external and internal service users, compliance to all relevant accreditation and regulatory bodies and staff training.

To apply, you should be a HCPC registered biomedical scientist with FIBMS, MSc or equivalent. You will have considerable experience in Haematology and recent experience in a supervisory capacity. Moreover, you should be ambitious, a natural leader and familiar with current NHS Pathology and management issues.
