We have a great opportunity for an experienced specialist BMS to join our remarkable and dynamic clinical biochemistry team as a Team Manager. This is a great step up for a specialist BMS into management. The post holder will be required to oversee and manage a team of biomedical scientists, as well as junior and support staff who perform analyses and processes.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • To manage day to day staffing, workflow and relevant training to ensure turnaround times and services are maintained. 
  • To assist in the creation of appropriate links with all users of the service to optimise the service. 
  • To develop, prepare, write and review relevant documents, including SOPs. 
  • To be an active member of the quality team and conduct and participate in audit processes and be responsible for investigating non-compliances. 
  • To participate in, monitor and report on EQA and IQC procedures and be responsible for correcting problems that have been identified. 
  • To analyse biological samples by manual and Specialist methods to provide a diagnostic Clinical Chemistry service. 
  • To undertake appropriate clinical audit when required and to facilitate and maintain UKAS requirements. Monitor, report and action errors, hazards and incidents. 

Qualifications and experience required:

  • HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist. 
  • MSc, FIBMS, or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma, or equivalent in clinical biochemistry and/or experience in an equivalent role. 
  • Evidence of continuing professional development. 
  • Level 2 or above management qualification (desirable). 
  • Ability to work across 3 different sites in a 24-7 work environment if/and when required.
  • Able to demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of industry standard laboratory information management systems and computer applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and Statistical Package.
