Jersey is an ideal place to pursue your career, offering a unique environment with all the advantages and challenges of living on an island. You will be on a beautiful island, with good weather, great beaches and walks and excellent restaurants. You will pay a lower rate of taxation, be able to transfer your UK pension and we offer an excellent relocation package. This is an exciting time in our Health Service as we remodel services to best serve our population for the future.

We are seeking an experienced specialist biomedical scientist who is looking to expand their practice. Working a 24/7 shift pattern, including some lone working sessions, you will practice across haematology, clinical chemistry, blood transfusion and support a limited repertoire in molecular sciences. Key tasks involve the processing, analysis and reporting of blood results and other biological specimens, using instrumentation including Sysmex XN, Werfen ACL Tops, Gene Expert and Ortho Vitros and Vision analysers. Our laboratories service the needs of the islands Health and Community Services, Primary Care and the Jersey Blood Donation Service.

We welcome applications from Biomedical Scientists who hold an IBMS Specialist Diploma in Blood Sciences or one of the individual Blood Sciences disciplines. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years post HCPC registration experience working in a diagnostic laboratory. We are committed to staff development and endeavour to provide opportunities for CPD and further study.

For an informal discussion please contact Julie Bellamy, Laboratory Manager for Blood Sciences on 01534 442617 or by email: j.bellamy@health.gov.je
