The States of Guernsey are seeking an experienced Biomedical Scientist in clinical microbiology.

Working as part of a small team with a positive attitude, you will contribute to the daily running and development of the Guernsey Clinical Microbiology department. The role requires a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge, and you will be required to contribute to the training and supervision of junior scientific, support and administrative staff.

There is no resident Consultant Microbiologist in Guernsey, instead the Laboratory works in partnership with the Microbiology and Virology team at Birmingham Heartlands hospital so the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible approach to work.

Registered with the HCPC, you should preferably have a master’s qualification or specialist diploma with significant post qualification experience in clinical microbiology.
Candidates not meeting the criteria but seeking development may be considered at a lower AFC band moving to AFC 7 on completion of training.

Knowledge of Biomeriux BacTAlert, Vitek and Technidata LIMS would be advantageous.
