The place to work in pathology

We are looking for top talent to join the UK’s leading and fastest growing pathology company – a scientific organisation with a clinical purpose.

Working in partnership with our service partners, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital and Bedford NHS Hospital Trusts, we aim to set the standard for the future of pathology.

An exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist in Clinical Biochemistry has now arisen in the Reference Biochemistry Laboratories at King’s College Hospital. This Biomedical Scientist post (band 5/6 AfC equivalent, dependent on experience / qualifications) offers candidates to further develop their specialist knowledge and skills in specialist areas of Clinical Biochemistry.

You will be part of the team that provides service delivery using latest technology (HPLC, mass spectrometry, immunoassay) in a variety of laboratories at King’s College Hospital (Toxicology, Trace Elements, Metabolic, Immunochemistry, Porphyrins, GI, Steroids, Diabetes, POCT).

The work will be slightly more involving than you might experience in a routine lab, in that you’ll gain exposure to new processes, platforms and technology. You’ll develop your individual skillsets, not only in automated and semi-automated, but also manual techniques whilst also ensuring those under you benefit from your expertise.

The variety alone will keep you engaged as you’ll see a whole range of investigations across the broad spectrum of Chemistry.

The area is expanding over the next 6 months and will see increases in GP community work coming from South East London, this will mean that there will likely be opportunities to develop into Senior BMS roles.

Applicants must have previous laboratory experience and HCPC registration, and preferably have obtained their IBMS Specialist Portfolio.

You will have a suite of learning opportunities available through the Scientific Learning and Development Fund and the ViAcademy through which you can receive funding for advanced qualifications.

Through our Innovation Fund, you can apply for finance to get that new innovative scientific project off the ground, and participate with the wider scientific community through symposiums, conferences and other peer group meetings.

King’s College Hospital Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s leading NHS Foundation Trusts in specialist teaching. King’s has various divisions including Neurosciences, Haematology, Cancer and Cardiovascular sciences, where there are unlimited opportunities to develop and perfect your career.

Over the last 170 years, King’s has delivered world class services to all its patients from deprived communities as well as some of the wealthiest in London.
