About the Role

A Senior Biomedical Scientist is required to join a small, self-funding, diagnostic/research core facility based at Whitechapel. The main duties will include: daily running of laboratory work, specimen dissection, preparation of standard operating procedures, and technical supervision of staff and researchers.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience of working within a routine diagnostic histopathology laboratory and be state registered with the HCPC. They must have an MSC (or equivalent) in Cellular Pathology. Experience of staff training would be desirable.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

Core Pathology is one of the Core facilities within the Blizard Institute. The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Pathology and Pharmacy building in Whitechapel, London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an expected start date of September 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 4, (plus Market Supplement equivalent to NHS Band 7 including LW) £48,068 - £55,006.
