About the role:


We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Haematology team at Barnet Hospital as a Senior Biomedical Scientist. You must be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Biomedical and holding post graduate qualification in Haematology. Please include details of your HCPC registration on your CV and in the application form.

The Haematology and Blood Transfusion Service at Barnet Hospital NHS Trust is provided by Health Services Laboratories (HSL).

The role will involve working alongside other members of the laboratory management team and undertaking haematology investigations, providing a cross-site, 24/7 service. However as a Senior Biomedical Scientist, we would see you typically working  9:00 to 5:30 weekdays and participate in 1 weekend shift a month on the rota. In event of sickness/emergencies you would be expected to cover late shift or night shift.


You will be primarily responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the team, the entering of complex Haematology results with appropriate interpretive comments and follow-up of overdue and pending test results. You will also be expected to familiar with the management of cold chain and quality requirements in accordance with local standard operating procedures.

We operate a shift pattern which has you working an average of 37.5 hours per week.
