Salary: on the Clinical Academic pay scale according to seniority 

Duration: Up to 4 years initially

The Institute of Clinical Sciences at Imperial College London and the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (wish to recruit a number of Clinical Senior Lecturers in Experimental Medicine/Medical Sciences.

The Institute of Clinical Sciences provides an outstanding research environment where scientists from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds work together to advance the understanding of biology relevant to human disease and its application to medicine. It has a multidisciplinary approach and hosts excellent experimental and computational programmes in basic and applied life sciences as well as clinical research. The Institute hosts a number of clinical training programmes aimed at training and mentoring the next generation of interdisciplinary clinician scientists. 

We are interested to hear from academic clinicians with excellent track-records in experimental medicine and basic science approaches to clinical research to join our outstanding research environment. Appointments will be made to individuals who can direct research programmes that complement our existing research strengths, benefit from our exceptional research infrastructure and obtain external funding. We are specifically interested in candidates working in the following areas: 

1. Metabolic disease 

· including obesity, type 2 diabetes, immunometabolism, the interplay between metabolism and psychiatry 

2. Epigenetic disease and therapy 

· including X-linked and imprinting diseases 

3. Cardiovascular medicine 

· including cardiac imaging and genomics 

4. Stem cell biology 

· including embryonic, adult and engineered stem cells 

5. Maths applied to medicine 

· Including imaging, genomics and computational biology 

The post holder will receive a generous research-funding package and will hold an honorary clinical consultant appointment in a relevant speciality. Contributions to clinical service will be agreed on appointment; it is anticipated that the post holder will spend the majority of their time undertaking research.
