An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Haematology / Blood Transfusion department in Lorn & Islands Hospital Laboratory for an experienced HPCP registered biomedical scientist as section lead. Candidates will be enthusiastic, outgoing, motivated and innovative, with good organizational skills and well developed communication skills.
Band 7. If you have a degree at Masters level or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences and are HCPC registered we want to hear from you. BBTS certificate in blood transfusion, FIBMS and management qualifications are desirable, as is familiarity with MHRA and ISO15189 standards.
Band 6. If you have a Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences and a Specialist Diploma in haematology or blood transfusion, and are HCPC registered we also want to hear from you. There will be an expectation to develop into the Band 7 post while being supported through qualification. A band 6 pay scale would be applied until suitable qualification and experience gained.

You will be the lead scientist in haematology and blood transfusion, and you will be expected to rotate within biochemistry and sample reception and participate in the on call out of hours system. You will be responsible for the updating and formation of procedures and processes, working with the local team and wider NHS Highland laboratory management to prepare the laboratory for accreditation to UKAS ISO 15189 standards.
