The Centre for Biomedical Sciences Education sits within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. 

The teaching staff within the Centre comprises enthusiastic teachers with world-class research in the biomedical sciences.

We are recruiting for a Senior Lecturer (Education) in Biomedical Sciences who will undertake a significant educational role within the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the School and Centre; maintain a portfolio of scholarly activity to enhance the educational activities of the university and contribute to administration and outreach activities.

Responsibilities for the Senior Lecturer (Education) will include: 

  • Lead a team of educators in the delivery of a range of teaching and assessment/examination activities on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
  • Seek significant roles with external professional bodies and learned societies to broaden teaching expertise and ensure that teaching methodologies follow current good practice.
  • Contribute significantly to the development and running of Centre processes by undertaking senior administrative roles e.g. Programme/Module Coordinator, quality assurance activities for programme enhancement and/or accreditation, membership of major committees.
  • As a programme coordinator, plan and manage teams of teachers and support staff to deliver high quality accredited courses in the biomedical sciences and direct others to ensure student educational needs and expectations are being met.
  • Provide academic leadership to those working within the programme.

The successful Senior Lecturer (Education) will have:

  • Honours degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent subject area.
  • PhD in a relevant subject area.
  • A postgraduate teaching qualification such as PGCHET (or equivalent) and/or be a Fellow of Advance HE.
  • An established reputation for excellence in teaching within the biomedical sciences.
  • Evidence of being a leading scholar in the biomedical sciences and/or educational practice.
  • Substantial teaching experience at university undergraduate level in biomedical sciences.

We will also consider appointing at Lecturer (Education) level.

The Lecturer (Education) will have:

  • Honours degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent subject area.
  • PhD in a relevant subject area.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity
  • Experience and growing reputation for excellence in teaching within the biomedical sciences.
  • Significant teaching experience at university undergraduate level in biomedical sciences
