We have an exciting opportunity for Senior Biomedical Scientists to join our Pathology Department, specialising within histopathology or blood transfusion

Job Profile:

You will support the chief BMS in providing an efficient and effective service, ensuring that scientific standards are maintained and that Clinic policies are adhered to at all times.

  • Job Type:  This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week on a shift rota (including some weekends)
  • Salary: The attractive salary for this role is £35,074 - £53,019 per annum, and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To assist the chief biomedical scientist in allocating and co-ordinating the routine work of the department, ensuring that staff deployment maximises the use of available resources.
  • To be responsible for internal and external quality assurance, staff training, maintenance of up-to-date techniques and written protocols and procedures.
  • To assist in the evaluation of new equipment and advise the chief BMS on the need for new equipment.
  • To maintain appropriate stock control.
  • To operate and maintain the analytical equipment in the department.

Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years post-registration recent laboratory experience within specialism
  • Comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge of selected specialism
  • Good understanding of quality management
  • Good working knowledge of laboratory health and safety
