We are looking for well-motivated, enthusiastic and skilled Senior Biomedical Scientist to enhance our existing team in providing a diagnostic service for the Hull and East Yorkshire area. The candidate will be registered with the HCPC and have a significant amount of post registration experience in Cellular Pathology at Band 6 level. Attainment of an MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject is desirable, however we will consider candidates who are nearing completion of a Masters or Higher Specialist Diploma and support individuals to complete these qualifications . Managerial experience is highly desirable. The postholder will be expected to manage the routine section of the service and supervise the staff in this area. Experience in training would be an advantage.

Our busy department is ISO 15189:2012 accredited through UKAS and the post holder will be expected to participate in the quality management agenda and ensure continued compliance against these standards. The department is also accredited for training and offers experience in a wide variety of Histopathology techniques. The laboratory, which was custom built in May of 2000 is spacious and very well equipped. We provide the Histopathology requirements of a population of over 500,000 in the Hull and East Yorkshire areas and receive around 36,000 surgical cases per year. The department also provides a regional neuropathology service.

Hull was the 2017 City of Culture with motorway links via M62 or Humber Bridge to the rest of the country. In addition, the City and surrounding areas offer a wide variety of leisure pursuits. Accommodation/housing costs are relatively low.
