Immunohematology Technical Lead

As Ortho continues to grow, we are seeking a Immunohematology Technical Lead for our BioVue technology area, who will be accountable to the Technical Manager for the identification, development, execution and implementation of key process, product and productivity projects relating to Immunohaematological/BioVue technologies within the Pencoed facility. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the successful applicant to play a critical role within our business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, execute and implement key process, product and productivity projects relating to Immunohaematological (BioVue related) technologies within the Pencoed facility.
  • In collaboration with Technical Manager develop future strategy for department. 
  • Lead investigations concerning troubleshooting of problems associated with BioVue and BioVue related technologies. 
  • Develop and drive factory implementation and capability / efficiency assessments of new processes. 
  • Recommend, evaluate and develop techniques and technologies.
  • Identify, develop and deliver appropriate technical training materials relating to BioVue theory, design and analysis and any newly identified technologies under evaluation. Act as mentor and coach to embed new expertise into the plant. 
  • Propose, quantify and develop business cases for productivity pipeline for potential new opportunities. Actively solicit ideas and opinions from others to drive continuous improvements within the factory.
  • Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert within the department and across other business functions for BioVue related projects.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through the proactive identification of hazards and risks and compliance with UK Health and Safety Legislation.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Minimum of degree level in Biomedical Sciences specialising in Immunohaematology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or similar scientific discipline, or possessing relevant experience.
  • Use of Microsoft office tools for communication and reporting
  • Excellent planning skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Immunohaematology and related processes.
  • Post graduate qualification specializing in Immunohaematology (MSc) is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in Project management 
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills
