We have 8 premises, where we perform highly complex procedures as well as routine surgery & medicine. We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief BMS Biochemistry to join our Pathology Department, specializing within Biochemistry and Blood Sciences.Job Profile: The post holder is responsible for the line management of biomedical scientists and medical laboratory assistants, within their area of responsibility, to deliver a medical laboratory service to achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care; to be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of work flow; to be responsible for the teaching and development of staff within the area; to maintain at all times the required high standards and quality; to maintain an up to date knowledge of Specialist area and current working practices within the diagnostic laboratory.Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, including participation of 1 in 4 Saturday shifts.Salary: The attractive salary for this role pays up to 63,204 (inclusive) per annum, dependent upon skills and experience.Benefits package: We offer a comprehensive package which includes a contribution pension scheme (total annual contribution up to 20%), Private Medical Healthcare, 25 day's annual leave, season ticket travel loan, and a wide range of discounts with a variety of retailers and services.   • To lead and deliver a quality, responsive and efficient biochemistry service in line with the needs of our patients, consultants, clients and business.
  • To be the lead laboratory expert in all areas of the biochemistry service, such as general biochemistry, track technology, protein electrophoresis and nephelometry.
  • To develop and manage the Clinic's point of care testing service.
  • Responsibility for quality management within the laboratory
  • Ensure compliance of all staff in section with Quality policies.
  • To lead, encourage, manage, develop and train staff working in the area.
  • To have hands-on technical expertise in biochemistry; to maintain competence in all areas of the biochemistry service.
  • To be aware of the revenue implications of departmental and Clinic policy.

Skills & Experience

  • HCPC registration diagnostic experience in relevant scientific discipline with substantive experience at a supervisory level.
  • MSc Biomedical Science (or related subject)
  • IBMS Fellowship.
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Understanding of managerial and leadership methods
